Owners Only Webinar
You won’t want to miss this candid take from career contractors who are industry leaders in public sector construction. In addition to their construction careers, they have volunteered untold hours to advise BCCA, the Regional Construction Associations and governments on best practises. We are confident their thoughts, opinions and experiences will be insightful and meaningful.
The “Risky Business” panelists will talk about:
1. How has public sector procurement changed over their careers?
2. What makes a project attractive to pursue?
3. How do GCs and trades make the decision to bid?
4. Change orders: are they really the profit generators owners think they are?
5. What they look for in a contract, and how the contract influences their decision-making.
About Our Panelists
Our panelists are here to share their opinions, expertise, and experience as construction professionals. They are not representing their employers, and so we have chosen to share their first names only. You want to learn what they have to say – the company they manage isn’t relevant here. Collectively they have more than 95 years experience and have built billions of public sector projects across BC.
About Owners Only
BCCA promotes fair, open and transparent procurement. Our “Owners Only” sessions create a ‘safe space’ to share best practices on procurement, tendering, and contracts, including their administration, interpretation and application. Our goal is to demystify our industry for the public servants who purchase construction services on behalf of BC’s Ministries, Municipalities, Crown Corporations, Health Authorities, Universities and School Districts.
About BCCA
BCCA is the only provincial organization advocating for all companies in BC’s industrial, commercial, institutional and multi-unit residential (ICI) construction sector regardless of labour affiliation. We protect contractors’ interests with the provincial government, provide expert procurement services, and manage several workforce development programs that are funded by the federal and provincial governments as well as the private sector. As a non-profit, BCCA’s mission is to ensure a productive and resilient industry. BCCA Board members are industry leaders from across the province, and Integrated Members of BC’s four Regional Construction Association are also members of BCCA. From the job site to the boardroom, we value community, safety, ethical and respectful business practices, fair market competition, innovation, and leadership.
